Description

score video

Falling up the down escalator emphasizes the differences between the four instruments in the ensemble. The first section on the octave that is common to all of the instruments, pitting their timbres against one another in continuous motion. Then a melodic line asserts itself, gradually overcoming the frantic nature of the opening. After gaining its own momentum, it is overtaken by the frantic, circular motion of the opening, this time in the opposite direction.

This piece was commissioned by H2 saxophone quartet and recorded on their album Times and Spaces on Blue Griffin. Listen on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon.
